About this artwork
Many irregular quadrilaterals in a variety of intriguing colors and textures form an intriguing pattern interspersed with both curving and straight lines that suggests the complexities of human thought patterns.

« I love trees and am captivated by branch and trunk structures. The positive/negative space relationships underly and inform abstract paintings and prints, often made with encaustic. »
Mark Lavatelli is an experienced artist based in the United States whose paintings have been widely exhibited nationally. His representational and abstract landscapes reflect the mediated relationship to nature that most people experience. Through the textured color areas of his tree imagery, Lavatelli conveys visual metaphors of the "fragmentation that is an inescapable reality of contemporary existence".
