About this artwork
I was invited to join a group of other artists to paint in Hampstead Heath. It's a place I've been a few times but not too familiar with the huge size of the park. It has so many interesting places to paint. I chose this spot to paint as I liked the view looking back down on several of the well known ponds. The lovely oak trees in the foreground added a great since of depth and colour in the autumn light. In this painting it was about capturing the… atmosphere and light of early autumn in one of London's iconic parks.
Born in Surrey England, Mark originally studied at the Birmingham School of Art & Design achieving BA (Hons) and a Masters Degree in Illustration. Since then, Mark has been working from Clockwork Studios for over 25yrs - a vibrant community of London Artists working across all disciplines of the Arts. He often draws his inspiration from the richness of daily life and landscapes across London and beyond. His oil paintings are celebrated for reflecting the subtle interplay of light and seasons on everyday scenes, resonating with viewers through use of vivid colours and dynamic brushstrokes. His pieces, whether created en plein air or in the studio aim to forge an emotional connection with the audience - exploring the relationship between the natural environment and human man-made structures.
