About this artwork
Inspired by a view along my morning commute when I was teaching in Baytown, this piece was the accumulation of a few roadside sketches and several photographs. I loved the way these three trees stood together, seemingly connected like sisters against the sky. I am the youngest of five in my family with three older sisters so somehow that idea resonated with me. The Three Graces title in mythology were the daughters of Zeus. This painting developed…
over time and the vivid colors and impasto textures reveal the history of its making. It was on view as part of my solo show at The Art Museum of Southeast Texas for three months.
