About this artwork
THRESHOLDS invoke a call to heed, to engage in an adventure. It can be a risk because you’re moving out of the familiar sphere of ‘what you know’. This crossing can be represented in many different ways but it’s always the path into the unknown, through the gateway. One’s task is to walk bodily through these doors into worlds where new knowledge, new life is possible.

« My work is about sculptural mark-making. Referencing the synergy between drawing and sculpture, between the material and the manipulated composition is what has, and continues, to empower me. »
Mark Wiesner is an award-winning American sculptor who has exhibited in numerous solo and group events throughout the United States. As a sculptor of assemblages, he resurrects discarded materials, such as cardboard, and embodies them with rhythm, movement and beauty. With a meticulous and technical rigor, Wiesner breathes new life into otherwise mundane and delicate materials, as a reflection on the fragility and beauty of life.
