About this artwork
At the beginning of the Lockdown, due to the situation of Cov-19 Markus had the need to
create colourful artworks in order to overwhelm all the negative news and facts which were shown in public media.
On the artwork you can find squares of different sizes, forms and shapes which abstractly
explain the living space where Markus spent his lockdown during the Cov-19 pandemic in Barcelona.
Shapes and colours:
Colours, textures and painting techniques… explain more about thoughts, feelings and impressions which occured in these rooms or areas during the lockdown. In order to express these thoughts, feelings and impressions Markus uses brushes, spatulas, oil chalk or spray paint.
Markus interprets rectangles, forms and shapes as different areas of the living space of my confinement. In other words he refers to the living room, bed room, bath room, kitchen, terrace, stairs or even the elevater. The place or area Markus was restricted to “be“ during the pandemic.
