About this artwork
In WE SEE THINGS, I explore perception and inner projection. Luminous layers of orange, pink, red, green, and blue are punctuated by neon yellow accents, creating a vibrant field of tension between emotion, movement, and depth. The colors overlap, flow into one another, and yet remain fragmentary—just like our perception of the world.
The handwritten sentences "We don't see things as they are" and "We see things as we are" form the core of the work.… They reflect my exploration of the idea that every perspective is subjective and shaped by experiences, feelings, and inner states.
I deliberately work with transparency, visible brushstrokes, and traces of the creative process. The composition invites the viewer to pause and reflect on their own perspective. "We See Things" is an invitation to consider what is seen not only externally, but also internally – openly, honestly, and without boundaries.
Marlena-Louisa, a self-taught painter, increasingly discovers her deep passion for art after a personal burnout experience.
Her artistic style is a mixture of spontaneous expression and dynamic composition.
Her technique is based on an intuitive approach – she lets the acrylic paint interact on the canvas, directing it deliberately, but also allowing it space to unfold freely. This creates dynamic splashes and multi-layered twirls that create depth and movement.
Her vibrant works appear like snapshots of inner dialogue, exploring emotions, movement and the boundless energy of the moment.
They invite viewers to engage with the feelings behind the shapes and colors, without fixed guidelines or boundaries. Everyone can find their own story within them—a reflection of inner emotions and associations.
