This painting was created specially for my solo exhibition at Galerie Tiberius in January 2026, reflecting the colors and emotions of my ongoing artistic journey.
This large-scale oil painting explores emotional landscapes beyond specific places. Intense reds and violets meet a calm, deep blue field, divided by a narrow horizon of warm yellow and orange tones.
The work is driven by contrasts between intensity and stillness, movement and silence.… Color is used not illustratively, but as a carrier of mood, memory, and inner space.
The painting invites quiet contemplation and leaves room for the viewer’s personal interpretation.

Marlene Schanz is a self-taught painter who has been experimenting with color, intuition, and direct hand contact since 2011, independently developing her own unique visual language. She works with a poetic blend of abstraction and subtle figuration, employing surreal moods, symbols such as fish and moons, and multifaceted color harmonies. Her works create intimate, almost ethereal spaces and powerfully convey a longing for memory, balance, and a sense of inner freedom.
