About this artwork
This work belongs to the series "Pandemic Fashion", a project that explores, through photographic self-portraiture, fashion, and theatrical performance, how the Coronavirus influenced market demand in Italy during the first lockdown of 2020, with a particular focus on sustainability.
The artist identified the twelve most sought-after items by collecting market research data and used them to create eccentric garments and accessories, which she wore… while portraying herself in theatrical and ironic poses.
All twelve outfits were uniquely designed, ranging from retro to contemporary styles, and are eco-sustainable—a deliberate choice to counteract the harmful effects of the fast fashion industry, which exploits low-cost labor and pollutes the environment with harmful materials and dyes.
