"Rings of Life" is a symbolic pictorial composition about the human life course. The intensely colored spirals represent individual phases of life – experiences, memories, movement, and change. Each layer of color forms a section that inscribes itself into the next.
The white-grey and black zones mark the phases of calming down, aging, and ultimately death. The tube-like forms act as… passageways: transitions between beginning, development, maturity, and transience.
The central light inside the rings symbolizes continuity – the carrying on of life beyond individual ends.

Marta Widowitz, trained in art history and applied arts, uses photography and acrylic painting in her works. Her technique is unique; she prints photographs on canvas and then adds a new dimension of depth and texture using acrylic, metallic acrylic, and texture paste. This process creates a play of light and shadow, making the image appear sometimes like a photograph, sometimes like a painting. Her works, inspired by travel and everyday moments, convey a sense of change and movement.
