About this artwork
This painting is my tribute to one of the greatest artists of all time, Camille Claudel, Rodin's lover, and victim of a tragic and passionate life.
A bold and talented sculptor, and an example of a woman's struggle for her place in the world. I had the great fortune to personally encounter her work and marvel at it, and upon my return from Paris in 1999, I passionately painted her portrait. In the surroundings, entirely worked with reliefs and a… palette knife, you can see one of her sculptures: mysteries, bridges, and elements that speak to her life as an artist. Her end was sad, and I believe it is reflected in the expression on her face and in her almost solitary gaze. It is a painting that has been published in many Uruguayan and international magazines, unique in its style, done with all my love for a great artist of all time. This work was also a turning point in my personal and artistic life, and is my humble tribute to Camille and to all women.
« I have never felt alone or lost my way. Art is always there, it sustains me and teaches me that nothing is impossible, there are only paths to happiness. »
