In this piece, I poured my soul into capturing the quiet strength behind a thoughtful gaze. Using oil to render realistic details, I layered symbolic colors and textures around her to reflect the complexity of human emotion. This artwork invites you to pause and feel the profound stillness and resilience it radiates, filling your space with introspective energy and timeless beauty.
The painting is entirely done with a palette knife, featuring reliefs,… texture, and pastel colors that complement the serenity of the facial expression. That ray of light penetrating the figure is very meaningful to me; light is needed to radiate light. That is my concept: peace and serenity in a moment that is then transmitted to those around us. It is a work that means a lot to me, blending abstraction with figuration, and reflecting my feelings.

Martha Escondeur is an award-winning painter and sculptor based in Uraguay whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the Netherlands and Spain. Many of her pieces relate to the human being and are a translation of their experiences and emotions. Escondeur endeavors to capture what she observes in the "other", whether visible, clear, or subtle. In addition, symbolic meaning is often imbued her composition's narratives. She creates using oils, acrylics, and gilding on canvas.
