About this artwork

In capturing this space, I was drawn to the juxtaposition of decay and enduring beauty of urbex. The faded grandeur of the ornate ceiling and peeling walls tells a story of time's relentless passage, while the open door invites curiosity about the mysteries that lie beyond. This piece explores themes of memory and resilience, offering viewers a poignant reflection on beauty living through neglect. It will bring a depth of character and a touch of… timeless intrigue to any room.

Credentials

Works on commission

Martijn Walet employs narrative photography, capturing the stark beauty of urban decay as an artist. He meticulously invites viewers into a once energetic world, now silenced and abandoned. Each photograph renders a poignant tale, a frozen moment in history, enshrined in grim elegance. His urban art redefines accessibility, bridging the gap between intellectual elitism and popular sentiment. His photographs evoke a haunting feeling of nostalgia, pulling at heartstrings with their silently voiced stories of elements left behind. Walet’s work embodies a unique blend of melancholy and beauty, a bittersweet homage to the dialogue between transience and permanence. "Encounter an unique glimpse into the world of the abandoned, in to urbex or urban exploring"
