About this artwork
DECODING A HIPPIE DREAM
The MYZEL photographs by Martin Ecker strive for a decoding of the elementary structures, to "something more real than the real" itself. Landscapes, buildings, people collapse in matter and form.
Decoding a hippie dream refers to the hippie movement of the sixties and seventies. In "caravans" they have traveled to India from all over the world in search of answers, mostly related to the question of who one is and why one… is in the world. Often the answer was hidden behind a veil, a dream, until it came into being and created a new reality.

Martin Ecker is a painter and photographer based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally. He cites space, time, and light playing a role in almost all of his compositions. In addition, Ecker's artistic practice favors experimentation with reactive processes and approaches. He has developed his own methods using living organisms in analog photography and also employs oxidation processes of precious metals his paintings.
