EMPY SHELL I
With this staging, the artist Ecker deals with the clichés of fashion photography. By aestheticizing the waste, he creates a contrast between noble and worthless, trash and haute couture. The frozen, willless poses of the female fashion victims are choreographed signs of emptiness, freshly inscribed in the formless chaos of anonymous rubbish. A disruption that lures the viewer into the abstraction of that odd moment where… the noble loses its value and where recycling begins.

Martin Ecker is a painter and photographer based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally. He cites space, time, and light playing a role in almost all of his compositions. In addition, Ecker's artistic practice favors experimentation with reactive processes and approaches. He has developed his own methods using living organisms in analog photography and also employs oxidation processes of precious metals his paintings.
