The pictures from the INFORMEL series from 2015 by Martin Ecker offer an exciting journey through polymorphic color landscapes. The eye first glides, then feels over hills and ridges, hesitates on cliffs, glides down into valleys, wanders from one color region to another, stops at another color rock. Only one step back saves the viewer from falling into the next depth. The adventure of viewing remains entirely individual in the here… and now. As soon as the viewer gets involved in a Gemäder Ecker's, he is drawn into it.
Ecker creates non-representational pictures that are characterized by the dissolution of the traditional form principle. In Ecker's INFORMEL series, color becomes the actual object. The group of works takes up paint pouring by Morris Louis, but invents its own, much more complex structure that Ecker plans in advance.

Martin Ecker is a painter and photographer based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally. He cites space, time, and light playing a role in almost all of his compositions. In addition, Ecker's artistic practice favors experimentation with reactive processes and approaches. He has developed his own methods using living organisms in analog photography and also employs oxidation processes of precious metals his paintings.
