About this artwork
This painting captures a moody, nighttime urban scene, bathed in the tension between artificial light and deep shadows.
A small yellow road sign with the words "FRESH START" on the right introduces an ironic twist, this deserted, dimly lit street is hardly a place one would associate with new beginnings. Yet, the sign suggests a possibility of renewal.
The road itself forms a symbolic pathway between the past and the future, as the human shadow… evokes the comfort and security of what is known, while the sign on the right beckons toward the uncertain promise of change. Yet, the scene remains empty, with no one present to make that decision. This absence invites the viewer to reflect personally, reinforcing the notion that the choice to move forward is deeply individual and unresolved.
Wojnowski, a Chelsea College of Art and Design alumnus, exercises his superb skills in acrylic paintings and interior design. Mesmerizing spectators through fine detail blended with expressive brushwork, he delineates a whimsical, dreamlike world where precision coexists with artistic freedom. He compels, through vibrant nuances of colour, a dive into an enchanting universe of nostalgia, playfulness and surrealism, ultimately sparking profound joy, reflection and momentary escape from reality.
