In this piece, I've used acrylics and collage to create layers of energy and mystery. The vibrant yellows amidst the deep blues symbolize hope and hidden growth. Life has many layers.
I am self-taught and paint the way I live: freely, curiously, and without a fixed set of rules. In my mixed-media art, I intuitively combine colors and materials until something vibrant and new emerges on the canvas.
"I paint life – in all its facets."
My paintings emerge from an interplay of intuitive letting go and taking charge. I layer colors, scrape them off, and paint over them again. This creates a depth that reminds me of real life: we, too, gain our depth through everything we experience and endure.
For me, painting is the best proof of our resilience. We are not the sum of our crises. We are what we create from the shards of the past and the layers of our experience.
After my own new beginning at the age of 62, I would like to encourage other newcomers to see the beauty in change and to rediscover their own inner light.
