About this artwork
For this painting, I was inspired by two works by two great artists I deeply admire: *Weeping Woman* painted by Picasso in 1937, and *Princesse de Broglie*, painted by Ingres between 1851 and 1853 — a meeting point between classicism and the avant-garde. The central figure evokes the aristocratic traits of the 19th century through her composure and refinement. However, the face — and partly the hands — completely break with this tradition. It is… a true rupture, a sudden outburst of tears that tears through the cage of convention. The carefully rendered dress, rich in realistic details and folds, represents appearance, tradition, and social role, while the face expresses the most chaotic and authentic inner world.
I have a background in architecture and visual arts, and I work with mediums such as ink, oil, watercolor, acrylic, collage, modeling, and digital tools. My expressive, psychologically charged style blends figuration with distortion, layering intense brushwork, saturated color, and instinctive gestures to reinterpret sacred and historical imagery through a contemporary lens. My art vibrates with emotion, transmitting raw vulnerability and the complex resonance of beauty and unease—inviting viewers to confront the fragile, unresolved truths beneath the surface.
