About this artwork
I began this work by focusing exclusively on a specific shade of blue. I wanted to put this color to the test and see if, on its own, it could hold all the tension of an encounter. As the idea began to take shape, I had a song in mind that says 'how deep the sea is' (com'è profondo il mare): that sense of vastness and mystery guided my hand on the canvas.
2 BLU was born from the idea of capturing a pure emotion before it turns into a thought. There… is no precise narrative: just two presences sharing the same space and the same color. The open mouths are not necessarily a scream; they could be a deep breath, a struggle to emerge, or an attempt to communicate something that has no words. The geometric shapes in the background could be a cage or a room from which these figures are trying to escape. And I wasn't interested in the perfection of the portrait, but in the power of the expression. The blue is not just a color, but the entire atmosphere in which these figures exist.
