About this artwork
This work belongs to the RI-DICO series. In these works, words are handwritten on the canvas and intertwined, forming a texture where the spaces are filled with color and sometimes, through pictorial artifice, bas-reliefs are created.
Massimo Orsi lives and works between Alessandria and Rome. An artist attuned to the world around him, he has always focused his attention on the issues facing contemporary society. He moves with ease across various artistic media, yet he has chosen painting as his primary means of expression. His work is always driven by a political imperative, where making art means taking a clear stance within the society in which we live. His analysis of the contemporary world focuses on mass media and extracts, from the flood of daily images, the primary symbol of consumerism: the logo. The logo is derived from the composition of the OK symbol, an expressive emblem of our society. The OK symbol, repeated and inverted on the four sides of a square, becomes a logo. The OK logo does not become a brand, but, as an intellectual product, it questions the intrinsic truth of the message. The OK logo becomes the preferred, not exclusive, tool for investigating the contemporary world.
