About this artwork
What immediately captures the attention is the clear division of the canvas into two distinct sections, both in color and in "background". On the left, a deep black dominates, almost an abyss, on which sinuous and organic forms of an intense and luminous yellow stand out. These forms almost seem to flow, like a dense liquid that slowly moves on the dark surface.
On the right, instead, we find a light and uniform gray that acts as a background to… a mirrored pattern of yellow shapes, but with an almost "negative" look. The yellow here seems to emerge from the gray, as if it were a light that propagates through a more neutral space.
The title "Macro" suggests an enlargement, a close-up view of something. We might imagine looking closely at natural forms, perhaps veins, cells, or flows of matter. The abstraction is strong, but there is a subtle suggestion of stylized natural elements.

Massimo Rubbi born in Ferrara in 1960 is an Italian artist who has undertaken a rather particular artistic path. After a high level musical education at the Conservatory of Ferrara, graduating he then continued his studies in composition and jazz music. This solid musical base has profoundly influenced his subsequent artistic career as a painter. he discovered a visceral passion for painting. This dual soul of his, musical and pictorial, is reflected in his works, often characterized by a strong expressiveness and a vibrant energy.
