About this artwork
In this oil work, I embraced semi-abstraction and expressionism to capture the duality between strength and fragility. The helmeted form evokes protection, while the delicate flowers represent fleeting beauty. Each brushstroke is charged with emotion, creating a visual tension that invites reflection. This painting will bring intense energy and striking contrast to your interior, reflecting the soul of life in vibrant shades.

« Painting begins where words fail, in that unthought-out, the fragile interstice that requires a face. »
Mathieu Laca is an artist based in Canada whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Germany. His unconventional portraits often feature artists, philosophers, or writers that he admires. Laca paints with oils in many layers, employing both impasto and "accidents" as his central techniques. He uses knives, brushes, and scrapers in the creation of his distinctive figurative compositions.
