About this artwork
This portrait depicts a young woman in search of her feminine nature — a quiet, sacred part of herself she feels disconnected from. She stands partially hidden behind plants, immersed in the natural world, as if nature itself might help her remember who she truly is.
Her gaze is soft yet longing, filled with the silent question of identity. There’s a sense of returning — not just to nature, but to the essence of womanhood, intuition, and emotional… truth. This work speaks to the journey of reconnecting with oneself through the wild, the gentle, and the instinctive.

Matilde Vassallo, a budding artist educated in multiple art forms, steers her passion into photography and digital conception. She fluidly combines dark, emotional surrealism with raw emotions, yielding fragments of human longing and shadowy beauty. Emphasizing the complex dynamics between light and dark, reality and illusions, her extraordinary art uncovers a mysterious realm of human psyche and suppressed emotions, providing solace in paradoxical comfort.
