About this artwork
Tectonic Heat is built through a slow process of layering and revision over the course of several months. The surface developed through repeated applications of paint, removal, and reworking, allowing earlier decisions to remain visible beneath later ones.
At the final stage, paint was poured across the surface, introducing gravity and chance into an otherwise deliberate process. That moment brought the accumulated layers into contact with one another,… compressing color and material into a single field.
The work reflects sustained attention to weight, buildup, and time. Rather than resolving toward a fixed image, the painting holds the record of its making and the forces that shaped it.
