As much as any piece in the collection, "Orange' reacts strongly with light. Much of this has to do with the colours, which are predominantly yellow and orange, fading to whitish-yellow at the bright end of the spectrum, and very dark red at the other end. This fiery palette naturally reacts with sunlight and bright spotlights, coming alive under such illumination.
As the close-up images reveal, it is not just the colours… that react strongly with light - it is also the mixed media. This includes small stones and irregular-shaped glass beads, slivers of transparent plastic, and glitter. The stones and glass, in particular, react in beautiful and unpredictable ways, sometimes acting as lenses, focusing and scattering light across the topographical regions created by the thickened paint mixtures.
