The artist's experience of looking through clouds or fog concentrating one's gaze on the landscape is reproduced by the artist in the process of creating the image. The originally picture-filling mountain panorama was painted over and over until a kind of essence of the view remained.

« I paint landscapes that are less concerned with naturalistic reproduction as they are with capturing rhythms, the empty spaces in the landscape. »
It was his discovery of a surrealist exhibition in Munich at age 16 that set Oppermann on an artistic path. Inspired by mountains since childhood, he partners ‘en plein air’ painting with studio work to create unique representations of natural landscapes and people in motion.
