About this artwork
The picture was taken in 2020 during a stay at the Mark Dion House in Gartow in the Seegeniederung. This is an area that is often flooded by the Elbe. In addition to the drawing of the landscape, the flooding of the landscape was reproduced with watercolors.

« I paint landscapes that are less concerned with naturalistic reproduction as they are with capturing rhythms, the empty spaces in the landscape. »
It was his discovery of a surrealist exhibition in Munich at age 16 that set Oppermann on an artistic path. Inspired by mountains since childhood, he partners ‘en plein air’ painting with studio work to create unique representations of natural landscapes and people in motion.
