About this artwork
The picture was taken after a hike from Splügen to Maloja in Switzerland. It is the view of the small mountain village Juf. By first drawing and then painterly superimposition of many different views, in which also enter other views of this walk, first a dense line of fabric was created, which was then painted over and dissolved again. For the painter the picture describes the memory of the view of Juf, which contains other glances of this walk.…
Through this superimposition of different views the Blld gets the sensible intensity of a special moment.
In these landscape depictions Oppermann is not concerned with the naturalistic representation of a place, but with the examination of the view and the representation of the experience of perceiving something.

« I paint landscapes that are less concerned with naturalistic reproduction as they are with capturing rhythms, the empty spaces in the landscape. »
It was his discovery of a surrealist exhibition in Munich at age 16 that set Oppermann on an artistic path. Inspired by mountains since childhood, he partners ‘en plein air’ painting with studio work to create unique representations of natural landscapes and people in motion.
