With memory I relive the roads I have traveled in life, each one leaving an indelible and fiery mark on my heart, before the magic of the night darkens them.
Each of my oil paintings on canvas is a lengthy process that requires careful consideration of the colors' drying times. It begins with areas of color, then removes, digs, and carves them until I find the essence of the painting, using a unique technique I developed after much experimentation.…
In this painting, the luminosity of the white allows the colors to shine through, linked to the browns, reds, and ochres of the earth, marked by incisions that recall our ancestral need to leave a mark. The surface, characteristic of my technique, is not as textured as it might seem: if you caress the painting, you discover it to be perfectly smooth.

Maurizio Paccagnella is an award-winning Italian painter and sculptor whose works have been widely exhibited nationally, as well as in Morocco. Formerly a hyper-realistic artist, he abandoned this expression, as it has become too tied to formality and perfection. Paccagnella's artistic journey led him towards the path of abstraction, from which he creates blurred and evocative images that seem to "emerge from the memories of the time".
