About this artwork
The work minutely traces the structure to a QR code that can be read using a special app. In this specific case, it is a temporary residence permit for Japan. Thus, the work alludes to the bureaucratic labyrinth to which refugees, but also other travelers, are exposed if they want to move freely.
But this code is useless in two ways. He is not complete and he is covered in splashes. This also extinguishes its actual function and reduces it to its… semantic structure as a labyrinth leading to nowhere.

« As a painter and journalist, I live a schizophrenic existence: two worlds that do not seem to have much in common. In my work, I try to connect them both. »
Max Beyme is a gifted German painter whose works have been nationally exhibited since the 1990s. Valuing the timeless meaning of a painting in contrast with the demand for quick, temporary information in his work as a TV journalist, he creates engrossing figurative and abstract pieces marked by masterful precision and visceral storytelling.
