About this artwork
The work "Michael's Bed" shows in the cut the bed of Michael Jackson shortly after his death. The focus of the picture is only half on the bed. The other half shows the carpet and a dresser in front of it. The dichotomy of the image plays with the here and the beyond metaphor. A "still life" with vanitas motif in the truest sense.

« As a painter and journalist, I live a schizophrenic existence: two worlds that do not seem to have much in common. In my work, I try to connect them both. »
Max Beyme is a gifted German painter whose works have been nationally exhibited since the 1990s. Valuing the timeless meaning of a painting in contrast with the demand for quick, temporary information in his work as a TV journalist, he creates engrossing figurative and abstract pieces marked by masterful precision and visceral storytelling.
