About this artwork
Max Vityk's studio was located in the village of Wassenaar near The Hague - near the horse racing venue known as Duindigt. This series is strongly influenced by Western and Eastern mysticism and folklore. Vityk writes: “In my journey through the Duindigt forest I often encounter different wonders of the world - creatures from distant Western and Eastern lands with bird heads… and horse legs, Bardo Angels riding on storks, smiling Birds and giant Silver Dutch Tulips guarded by the Revolution Soldiers from Kyiv. They just happening and coming from nowhere - like dreams…”

Born in 1964 in Lviv, Ukraine, Max Vityk is a Ukrainian-American artist who currently resides in Cairo, Egypt. He initially obtained a doctorate in geology, and now he explores both figurative and abstract art, inspired by his geological knowledge.
