May Clemente is an artist based in Martinique whose paintings have been exhibited both nationally and in the United States, Barbados, and France. Having lived also lived in the United States, her works are inspired by the notion of borders, multiculturalism, and freedom. In addition, Clemente's abstract compositions explore the powerful intensity of colors and textures. She creates using acrylics and gilding on canvas, while also incorporating diverse materials such as metal spikes, freshly broken glass, and sand.
