About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture the depth of darkness and the complexity that lies within the shades of black. Using acrylic and resin, I created a thought-provoking texture, where each viewer can delve into their own inner world. Minimalism and abstraction are my tools to evoke pure emotion, far from the distraction of bright colors. This painting is a showcase of meditation, a space for introspection and calm energy.

May Clemente is an artist based in Martinique whose paintings have been exhibited both nationally and in the United States, Barbados, and France. Having lived also lived in the United States, her works are inspired by the notion of borders, multiculturalism, and freedom. In addition, Clemente's abstract compositions explore the powerful intensity of colors and textures. She creates using acrylics and gilding on canvas, while also incorporating diverse materials such as metal spikes, freshly broken glass, and sand.
