About this artwork
The rhinoceros emerges from the canvas like a primordial creature in metamorphosis: its massive body, still anchored to the flesh, crumbles into geometric fragments from which golden numbers flow, a cascade of 0s and 1s that detaches itself from the material to dissolve into the air.
It's not an animal, not anymore: it's a symbol of the life force that technology is rewriting, of the transition from the organic to the digital. Its skin, tough and… ancient, becomes code; its breathing, calculation; its movement, algorithm.
This work speaks to the threshold we stand on: the instinct of nature that resists, and at the same time the unstoppable drive of the machine that transforms every form into information. The rhinoceros doesn't die, it transfigures: and in that transformation, the enigma of our time unfolds.

Francesco Cattivelli is a painter, sculptor, and digital artist, with a background in profound inner exploration and study of sacred and esoteric texts. He uses techniques ranging from acrylic and oil on canvas to metal and wood sculptures, also incorporating digital printing; his style combines symbolism, geometry, and technological influences in a continuous metamorphosis. His works are charged with tension, revealing the polarity between man and machine and inviting us to explore new forms of awareness and beauty beyond the human.
