About this artwork
This small-scale work captures a serene spring scene featuring a white daffodil and a butterfly.
While the yellow daffodil signifies the very start of the season, the white daffodil feels like a clear, deep breath as spring matures. The white petals, blooming against a light green background, possess a translucent quality as if they are infused with light. The pointillist textures evoke the scattering of pollen and the gentle flow of spring air,… while the butterfly symbolizes change, circulation, and the delicate movement of life.
Despite its compact 15×15 cm size, I intended for the layered colors and textures on the deep-edged canvas to hold a distinct presence, much like a sculptural object.
I wanted to capture and hold onto that fleeting, still moment in the garden where the flower and butterfly rest together. I hope this small fragment of spring brings quiet solace and a warm breath of life to its new space.
