"Polihale Beach Road" is one of my most popular postcard and print sales. The original is still available for sale.
Polihale is a sacred reserve on Kaua`i, Hawai`i. It is a beautiful remote island location. It is literally the end of the road.
This watercolor was done on one of my art safari trips. I have a work truck converted to van-life… that serves as my mobile art station.
Fellow photographers and artists who know Polihale and who have seen this artwork comment that it has a unique composition and feeling that brings a full representation of the place. This was my intent. I captured the looming mountain cliffs, the sand road leading in, the dunes and beach vegetation and the contrasting sun soaked beach and ocean.
This is one of my first colour works for many years since I was doing mostly b+w charcoal portraits for many years until Covid lockdowns.
