About this artwork
A group of people have travelled through a desert and gather around an oasis for refreshment. The painting relates ancient human history, the nomadic search for new, more fertile territory to the contemporary search for the same, both material and spiritual. The painting is also about it's own making, the artist's search for a painterly oasis where the process of arriving at an an image absorbs and reflects a range of more or less intuitive decisions.
