About this artwork
Bob Marley was a Jamaican reggae singer, guitarist and songwriter. Marley's contribution to music increased the visibility of Jamaican music worldwide and made him a global figure in popular culture. He also supported democratic social reforms in Jamaica and was a longtime member of the Rastafarian movement.
Michael travelled to Jamaica with his family in 1987 and had a great time and was impressed by the Jamaican way of life and especially by… the reggae music...allover- on the beach, in the taxi, in the bus, in the stores, in the restaurants...
So when he returned to his atelier, he decided to paint Bob Marley!
Michael Knepper is an experienced artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States, Sweden, and China. Oscilating between realism, hyper-realism, and pop art combined with abstract motifs, his distinctive works are all imbured with messages and symbolism. In his artistic process, Knepper most often creates with acrylics and oils on canvas.
