About this artwork
C-type print on Fuji flex, a.k.a. super-gloss, which has a plastic feel to the paper and a warm base colour with an ultra high gloss finish, giving luxurious rich colours. Exquisitely mounted on aluminium with subframe, floating 2 cm off the wall.
Juxtaposing the stillness of the traditional gallery setting, with the speed of its public passing through. This work obscures the usual detail on each figure with smudges and streaks generated from their… own, and the camera’s, movements. Hauntingly, the iconic building itself engulfs its patrons by the intentional introduction of ambiguity into a process priding itself on super-sharp detail.
’Gallery’ series of HDR photographs shot within the confine of gallery/museum space. Exploring the relationship between the visitors, the artworks and the space they all inhabit. Created entirely in-camera as the culmination of gesture, performance, intuition and sheer happenstance.
