About this artwork
For years, everything has been getting simpler. Brushstrokes on top of each other. Layers. Rows. Large canvases full of strokes. Small pieces of paper, too. The BRUSHSTROKES paintings are about the actual gesture of painting, the brushstroke itself.
In my series "Brushstroke (Gradients)," I play with the natural color gradient of ink from dark or saturated to light or watery. The brushstrokes, which move from top to bottom and then back to top,… create color landscapes with an indefinable depth.

Despite the diversity of forms of expression, the program of my painting is very personal and very simple: The central theme is painting itself. It's about the process, the experimentation, the searching and discovering within the medium.
The ideas and motifs arise from my immediate working environment, drawing on the dialogue with the materials, tools, and studio. In this sense, there is no fixed theme; rather, it's about the specific image concept and the energetic effect I strive for in its implementation. My goal is to create images that the viewer can experience directly through their senses.
In recent years, I have increasingly simplified my painting. In my current works, I explore the possibilities of color overlays, layering, condensation, and sequences, often working playfully with the simplest painterly gesture: the brushstroke becomes the motif.
