About this artwork
The title "Made for Giraffes" derives from a painting process of minimal intervention. This is just what all wildlife needs: minimal human interference. Giraffes are just a placeholder for wildlife, and I love the word. ;)
The canvases in the series are first stretched and primed. After that, I try not to touch them anymore: all the paint, ash, pigments, and tiny pieces of studio leftovers are either liquid enough to flow or are dropped onto the… flat-lying canvas.
Applying paint to canvases this size is a dance: the work is moved, tilted, and turned at various speeds to ensure every inch is reached. That process ensures that coincidence and chance play a vital role in the distribution and exact allocation of marks and color fields. The abstract forms and subtle color shifts invite introspection and calm. This painting brings a quiet energy, perfect for transforming your space into a serene sanctuary filled with thoughtful expression and understated beauty.
