About this artwork
It was a trunk of a hornbeam that probably fell over in a storm, which the artist fetched from the forest on a sled in winter. The trunk had probably been there for a while because it hardly had any bark left. Even the tribe was interesting as a sculpture with its organic, flowing forms. An artistic dialogue began in the design of a sculpture that does justice to the original character of the tree. Edges and lines have been made clearer and surfaces…
have been harmonized. Finally everything was colored with an ultramarine blue pigment and a wood oil. In a very last step, it was carefully sanded again so that the edge guidance stands out more clearly. The sculpture is mounted on a dark colored concrete slab with a small gap, which can be altered if desired.
