About this artwork
There are painters like Joseph Albers who studied the square for a long time. Square works also play an important role in the artist's oeuvre as a whole. It symbolically stands for the earth. Above all, however, the color compositions are important to the artist, each giving the square its own expression. Here it is an ocher in the center, an ultramarine, a strong red, as it were, as the main color, a dark colored gray, an orange and another light…
gray value. It is painted on stretched cardboard that has been primed with chalk. The dimensions are the external dimensions of this box. The picture needs a frame and possibly a passepartout, which the artist can provide if desired. Despite all the simplicity of the form, the color combination offers the eye a fresh, bright and friendly color experience.
