About this artwork
In this watercolor, I wanted to depict the rose in its transience—not as a flawless bloom, but as a living being that breathes, ripens, and fades. The white of the petals remains open to capture the light, while the warm brown hints at the fading of the bloom. The blue adds depth and space, enveloping the forms and making them almost leap off the paper. I am not painting the beauty of the rose—I am painting what remains when the bloom is silent.…
The picture is currently mounted in a dark blue frame with a white passe-partout and measures 84x70cm, and is the perfect counterpart to the picture "In the Silence of Blue".

I've been fascinated by portraiture since childhood. In 1977, I began painting nudes and in oils, and from 1995, watercolors defined my style. I taught adult education courses in Neumarkt and Eugendorf and exhibited regularly. In 2000, I added acrylic and airbrush, and in 2001, I delved deeper into the techniques of the Old Masters. A highlight was the presentation of my complete works and the opening of my new studio in Salzburg in 2002. There, I created a cycle on the 22 Hebrew letters, inspired by Jewish traditions. In 2005, I received a commission for an altarpiece in Salzburg-Sam. Since 2014, I've been working on the Expressive Realism acrylic cycle.
For me, art means expressing the invisible behind the visible. My focus is on the human being—their story, their depth. Various techniques help me make emotions visible. My works aim to touch people, to make identity and spirituality tangible.
