About this artwork
With this painting, I wanted to demonstrate how much character can be hidden in something as mundane as carrots—especially when they emerge from the earth against a vibrant fluid background, almost like prehistoric creatures. The layers of paint were created in several pouring and glazing processes, while the carrots were placed on top using a classic technique—with a wink.
The picture is in a gold frame and measures 50x50 cm.

I've been fascinated by portraiture since childhood. In 1977, I began painting nudes and in oils, and from 1995, watercolors defined my style. I taught adult education courses in Neumarkt and Eugendorf and exhibited regularly. In 2000, I added acrylic and airbrush, and in 2001, I delved deeper into the techniques of the Old Masters. A highlight was the presentation of my complete works and the opening of my new studio in Salzburg in 2002. There, I created a cycle on the 22 Hebrew letters, inspired by Jewish traditions. In 2005, I received a commission for an altarpiece in Salzburg-Sam. Since 2014, I've been working on the Expressive Realism acrylic cycle.
For me, art means expressing the invisible behind the visible. My focus is on the human being—their story, their depth. Various techniques help me make emotions visible. My works aim to touch people, to make identity and spirituality tangible.
