About this artwork
This painting is, as for "pastilles de lumière", an exploration of the relationship between background and pattern. The elements come together in an organized frame, but some remain detached. The background is varied and the shapes are rather "liquid" while they represent a normally very rigid pattern.

I am a biologist by training and a self-taught painter. For several years, I have been creating oil paintings on canvas, the result of a constant exploration of the world of abstraction. I try to create unusual arrangements of forms and colors, oscillating between conceptual minimalism and gestural spontaneity. The result is paintings that appear stripped down at first glance, but whose complexity is revealed upon closer observation. In all cases, I strive for a composition that is both harmonious and contrasting.
