About this artwork
I made two paintings with water lilies as a theme. Both paintings were inspired by a super beautiful lake in Outaouais, Quebec, that I used to visit during different summer periods. Unfortunately, the friend who owned it passed away, and to remember our friendship, I made the water lily triptych. By the way, it's a painting that was 98% done by squirting paint, so the entire composition wasn't done using a brush on the canvas, but by movements and… colored droplets.
Michel Delage, a painter and multidisciplinary artist for 50 years, works almost exclusively with reclaimed materials, embodying a profound ecological awareness. His technique combines gestural painting, dripping, collage, and braiding, drawing on abstraction, pointillism, Fauvism, and Expressionism to create vibrant symbolic compositions. He infuses his works with emotions linked to transformation, spirituality, and the invisible energy of the world, offering sensory wonder and a profound reflection on the hidden beauty of reality.
