Michel Mirabal is an acclaimed Cuban painter, photographer, draftsman, printmaker and sculptor, whose work has been exhibited in top shows around the world and whose clients include Muhammad Ali and the King of Morocco. He uses his artistic practice to investigate the problems and conflicts present in society, employing recurring motifs such as the Cuban and US national flags to question ideas of patriotism and politics. He employs a range of materials, including petals, bullet casings, rice and barbed wire, masterfully working them into a piece that finally becomes the viewer's to contemplate and interpret.
