About this artwork
"Mirrors of Dawn 4" is an oil painting, created with brushes for the landscape background and with a palette knife for the motifs, adding a touch of relief that accentuates its vibrant and intimate feel. As in all my seascapes, the use of the palette knife allows me to work in a semi-abstract style, suggesting the motif with a few touches of color and thus maintaining an ever-open horizon. This composition is inspired by the landscapes of the Arcachon…
Basin and the Atlantic coast, where the colors are soft, varied, and ever-changing depending on the time of day and the season. Through pastel tones, I wanted to evoke these unique seascapes, so full of poetry and serenity, which shift and transform with the passing of time and the tides. It is an invitation to travel, but also to contemplation and reverie.

Michel Saint-Luc is a French painter who has exhibited in Spain, Germany, and France. Having been born and lived close to water his entire life, Saint-Luc's works reflect his passion for seascapes. He often blurs the horizons, allowing the eye the possibility to seize and redefine it. His figurative and abstract compositions are created using knives and painted with oils on canvas or cardboard.
